Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City is seeking a Unit Coordinator for the Burn Unit night shift. This role provides charge nurse responsibilities, manages throughput, and staffing to the matrix to meet patient care needs.

You will assist with hiring, education and performance evaluation, work with the Nurse Manager and Human Resources on performance management, and mentor staff to uphold clinical excellence.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate required.
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing required.
• For Southwest KC market locations: BSN degree required upon hire after Nov 1, 2025; ADN nurses hired before that date must enroll in BSN within 6 months and complete by the third anniversary of hire.
• Master Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 2+ years of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides charge nurse responsibilities, including assignments, throughput management, and staffing to matrix.
• Responds to patient and staff needs and manages a patient care assignment.
• Assists with hiring, education, and performance evaluation of staff; collaborates with Nurse Manager and HR on performance management and discipline.
• Mentors staff to promote clinical practice excellence and patient/employee satisfaction; drives productivity and budget compliance.
