Job summary

Albany Med Health System in New York is seeking a qualified registered nurse for the General Surgery/Trauma-B3 unit to fill a night shift position. You will implement physician orders, start IVs, administer medications, perform required treatments, and document all care in accordance with policy.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, interpreting diagnostic tests, planning care with the nursing team, and delivering high-quality, compassionate care for trauma and non-trauma patients.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program with Diploma, ADN or BSN.
• Must hold current NYS Registered Nurse license.
• Obtains and maintains certification in BLS and ACLS.
• Minimum of 1–3 years of RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments and tests, and documents care per policy and regulations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
• Assesses patient needs and responses to care rendered.
• Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
• Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers OTC and prescription medications as ordered.
• Collaborates with nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Directs and guides ancillary staff to maintain professional nursing standards.
