Job summary

North Knoxville Medical Center is seeking a Monitor Technician to provide continuous surveillance of telemetry monitors, assess and document patient cardiac rhythms, identify arrhythmias, and communicate findings to the healthcare team to support safe, effective care.

You will ensure monitoring equipment is functional and properly configured, assist with patient safety, and collaborate with nurses and clinicians during admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Qualifications

• Completion of a telemetry or EKG interpretation course during orientation period required
• 0-2 years of clerical and/or clinical experience in a medical setting required
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification required

Responsibilities

• Continuously observes and interprets patient telemetry monitors, accurately recording rhythm strips at established intervals.
• Identifies rhythm changes and promptly notifies the nurse or licensed personnel of potentially life-threatening arrhythmias.
• Maintains effective communication with peers, staff, physicians, and leaders to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues with monitoring equipment and escalates problems as directed.
• Organizes and tracks monitoring equipment during shifts and ensures proper configuration for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
