SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist 1, NS31 for Labor & Delivery (Nights). The role involves scrubbing or assisting as a sterile member of the team, preparing instrumentation, and passing sterile tools to the surgeon during procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining asepsis, preparing the sterile field and operative site, transporting patients, and assisting with instrument prep and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, gathers, and prepares medical instrumentation and specialty equipment for procedures.
• Sets up and passes sterile instruments to the surgeon during operations.
• Maintains aseptic technique and ensures patient safety in the surgical environment.
• Prepares the sterile field, operative site, and drapes the patient.
• Transports patients to and from the operating room and performs preoperative shave preps.
• Cleans unsanitary instruments and checks for defects during instrument preparation.
• Tests equipment for operation and reports issues to the RN.
• Collects and transports operative setup to the surgical room; restocks as needed.
• Assists in cleaning and restocking rooms and taking inventory of supplies.
