Job summary

Prisma Health's Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team across all ages and procedures by performing scrub duties and related functions as a member of the surgical team on a novice to advanced beginner level completing identified job competencies. Maintains patient safety, privacy and confidentiality.

The role emphasizes collaboration, adherence to sterilization standards, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program or Surgical Technologist training in the U.S.
• No previous experience required.
• Maintains surgical technology certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for procedures by gathering supplies and instruments according to the Surgeon Preference Card.
• Set up the Operating Room for cases and arrange instruments and supplies maintaining sterile technique.
• Assist the surgical team during procedures, help maintain instrument/needle/sponges counts, and handle specimens as directed by the RN.
• Clean and prepare rooms between procedures and secure unused supplies and equipment.
• Maintain aseptic technique and address any breaches promptly.
• Mentor and train teammates; support integration of new staff.
• Complete annual age-specific accountabilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
