Job summary

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Montana invites applications for a Night Supervisory Leader overseeing the Mental Health Worker team in our residential facilities.

You will supervise staff, direct scheduling, interview and train employees, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure safety, security, and policy compliance across lodge units while coordinating emergency night coverage and crisis responses.

Qualifications

  • 21 years old or older.
  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: pass background checks per Montana.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1.5 years working with youth with behavioral issues in residential settings.
  • Driver's license to operate a passenger vehicle.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days and maintain.
  • Certification in Violence Intervention and Prevention Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Mental Health Worker-Night staff.
  • Plan and direct work, assign duties, and ensure schedules are followed.
  • Interview, hire, onboard, train staff; conduct evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure staff training programs; schedule regular staff meetings.
  • Manage a team toward goals, address issues, and reward or discipline appropriately.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies; coordinate night coverage for lodge units.
  • Assist in crisis intervention; debrief with childcare staff and improve safety techniques.
  • Coach staff on YBGR policies; provide transportation when possible.
  • Conduct rounds of lodge units; ensure campus buildings are secure.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements related to services.

Job description

Supervisory Responsibilities: Provides leadership and supervision to Mental Health Worker-Night as outlined in the supervisor duties below.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Plans and directs work, ensuring that work schedules are adhered to and assigning specific duties to subordinate staff.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees. Conducts staff evaluations, job performance management (including coaching/counseling), and corrective action.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate staff training and education programs are provided. Schedule and conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Demonstrates effective management of a team toward achievement of goals, including appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Daily And Monthly Responsibilities
  • Respond promptly to requests for assistance in emergency situations.
  • Help coordinate emergency staff coverage and be available for emergency night coverage in lodge units. In emergency situations, position staff into different lodges or cover lodge shifts as needed.
  • Assist in situations that require crisis intervention. Must be available in stressful situations to lend support and aid in crisis.
  • Debrief crisis situations with childcare staff as to assess, evaluate and implement improved safety and intervention techniques.
  • Coach others in the YBGR policies, procedures and protocol.
  • Provide transportation assistance to lodge units when possible.
  • Responsible to make rounds of all lodge units to include visiting each lodge unit at least once when on duty.
  • Check all buildings on campus to ensure they are secure.
  • Responsible for compliance with and understanding of contract requirements as it relates to business and customer services.

Required Qualifications
  • 21 years old or older
  • Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous Professional Experience: A minimum of 1.5 years of professional experience in working with youth with emotional and behavioral issues in a residential setting.
  • Driver's License to operate passenger vehicle.
  • Current CPR/1st Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 day and maintain certification
  • Successfully complete and maintain certification in identified Violence Intervention and Prevention Program
