Job summary

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Billings, MT is seeking a Mental Health Worker to support residential programming, supervise daily activities, and model healthy coping skills for youth with complex emotional and behavioral needs.

You will participate in treatment planning, document progress, coordinate with families and agencies, and help create psycho-educational groups. Minimum 21 years old, background check clearance, and a high school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Implement treatment programming and provide feedback for each child in the unit.

• Liaise with families and agencies, providing professional customer service; weekly contacts.
• Support therapeutic procedures across recreation, education, spiritual, social, and medical areas.
• Design and implement psycho-educational groups to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Be accountable to the treatment team and YBGR for overall program needs.

Job description

Position Summary:

At Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, we count on our Mental Health Workers to support a trauma-informed environment, facilitate, and supervise day-to-day activities of residential programming such as recreational activities, completion of basic living and social skills while assuring the safety of the youth. They serve as a positive role model and mentor to adolescents in treatment. A Mental Health Worker will possess a strong work ethic, reliability, and a desire to help youth with complex emotional and behavioral issues. They should have a passion for this field and be a positive role model and influence the youth.

Starting Salary Range:

$18.12 - $20.39 per hour. Salary reflects steps 1-5 of an 11-step pay schedule. The starting salary will be determined based on the applicant’s education and relevant experience.

Daily And Monthly Responsibilities

• Implement treatment programming and provide feedback for each child in the unit.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and therapeutic milieu in the treatment unit. Supervise youth at all times while teaching them coping and daily living skills.
• Complete proper treatment documentation on time and consistent with YBGR policies.
• Serve as a liaison to families and agencies responsible for youth in the unit, always providing professional customer service. Responsible for weekly contacts with families/agencies etc.
• Serve as a support person in the therapeutic treatment procedures (recreational, educational, spiritual, social, medical, etc.) assigned by the Program Manager.
• Design and implement psycho-educational groups to increase clients' knowledge and skills.
• Responsible/accountable to the treatment team and YBGR for overall program needs

Saturday and Sunday 7:00am to 3:00pm Monday 11:00am to 5:00pm
Friday 5:00pm to 11:00pm Saturday and Sunday 3:00pm to 11:00pm
Tuesday-Friday 11:00am to 5:00pm

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 21 years old or older
• Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
• High School Diploma or GED
