Job summary

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Billings, MT is seeking a Night Mental Health Worker to provide a safe, calm overnight environment for youth. This role focuses on consistent, compassionate presence, adhering to safety standards, and coordinating with day staff to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a criminal background and child abuse registry check (Montana).

  • Respond appropriately in crisis or high-stress situations.
  • Participate in monthly coaching and supervision.

As a Night Mental Health Worker, you play a vital role in that mission by ensuring a safe, calm, and supportive environment during the nighttime hours—when youth are often most vulnerable.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct scheduled bed checks every 15–30 minutes to ensure youth safety and well-being

Compensation & Benefits

Starting salary range: $19.21–$21.62 per hour, based on education and relevant experience. This reflects steps 1–5 of an 11‑step pay schedule. YBGR offers ongoing training, opportunities for advancement, and a supportive, mission‑driven team culture.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Primarily indoor environment, with occasional outdoor duties
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment
  • Must be physically able to assist in crisis interventions involving youth (up to 300 lbs)
  • High‑stress tolerance and ability to de‑escalate difficult situations
  • Must perceive and respond to verbal and non‑verbal cues effectively
