Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store to help customers feel welcomed and appreciated.
• Gain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of grocery specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell-by dates and take action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures and temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needs for repair.
