Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking a 3rd Shift Lead Forklift Operator to supervise and guide all forklift activities overnight. You will mentor operators, ensure accuracy in inventory, and uphold safety standards across the distribution center.

The role emphasizes leadership, safe operation of PIT equipment, and collaboration with supervisors to meet daily goals. A strong background in warehouse procedures and RF/WMS tools is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of warehouse and powered industrial truck experience.
• Proven leadership or lead-person experience in a distribution or warehouse environment.
• Valid PIT certification or ability to maintain certification.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and safety procedures.
• Ability to recognize and match alpha and numeric inventory information.
• Ability to connect with employees, supervisors, and management.
• Experience with RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, and reach on a 10-hour shift.
• Overtime flexibility.
• Dedication to a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary associate responsible for all forklift operations during the 3rd shift.
• Coordinate daily workloads and assign tasks to forklift operators.
• Supervise productivity, quality, accuracy, and safety of team members.
• Train, coach, and mentor forklift operators on equipment operation and safety.
• Communicate shift goals and performance expectations to the team.
• Maintain staffing coverage and workflow continuity.
• Report safety concerns and inventory discrepancies to management.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across departments.
