Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale, full-time Sterile Processing Technician, night shift 11pm–7am, is seeking a detail-oriented professional to ensure instrument sterilization and readiness for the operating room.

You will operate sterilization equipment, decontaminate soiled instruments, manage inventory for case carts, monitor processes for safety, train new staff, and uphold infection prevention standards.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology program.
• 1+ year of Sterile Processing experience.
• Proficiency in English and strong communication.
• Knowledge of Sterilization Standards and infectious control.
• Basic computer skills.
• Technical schooling in Sterile Processing/Surgical Technology.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and nosocomial infections.
• Proficient use of all equipment.
• Ability to adapt to change and work under stress.
• Ability to lead others.

Responsibilities

• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments for cleanliness.
• Maintain inventory levels for case carts.
• Perform decontamination of instruments and equipment per IFUs and protocols.
• Correct instrument sets according to standards and tracking systems.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments.
• Monitor and document sterilization processes for safety compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with sterilization equipment and processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement of sterilization processes.
• Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous materials.
