Job summary

Arkansas Children's is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Central Energy Plant on the Night shift. The role operates 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.) on a Thursday to Monday schedule, ensuring utilities and systems run reliably across campus.

Most new hires start with no formal education required, with recommended High School diploma or GED and specialized boiler, electrical licenses, and EPA universal technician certifications, to support safe operations.

Qualifications

  • Entry level; no formal education required.
  • Recommended certifications listed above.
  • Shift-based, night 3rd shift availability.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all plant machinery and systems are operating within design specs and takes appropriate action if not.
  • Operates and maintains the HVAC, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, emergency electrical generation, medical gas, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnoses equipment problems with the use of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting tools.
  • Responds quickly and effectively to alarms to minimize machinery damage and inconvenience to customers.
  • Maintains knowledge of and practices all plant safety procedures.
  • Conducts basic inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on machinery.
  • Maintains emergency power system readiness at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED or equivalent
Boiler Operator License - Arkansas Department of Labor Boiler Operator's License Division
Industrial Maintenance Electrician (License) - Arkansas Board of Electrical Examiners
Universal Technician Certification - EPA
