Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our Houston, TX team. This full-time role operates on a 3rd shift, Monday–Friday, 9:00 PM–5:30 AM with rotating Saturdays. Key duties include preparing biological specimens, validating demographics, data entry, and ensuring timely, accurate results with quality metrics.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, strong computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Prior Labcorp or healthcare experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proficient computer and typing skills.
• Able to pass a color vision test.
• Comfortable handling human specimens (blood, urine, tissue).
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs and sit/stand for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Introduce and prepare biological specimens for processing.
• Verify patient demographic information matches requisition forms.
• Data entry of patient information into the system.
• Meet production metrics and quality measures for timely results.
• Unpack and route specimens to staging areas.
• Pack and ship specimens when required.
• Prepare and store excess specimens.
• Resolve problem specimens and document findings.
• Operate automated instruments under supervision when needed.
