Job summary

Georgia-Pacific Talladega Lumber is seeking a Forklift Operator for its Shipping Department. The starting pay is $20.00 per hour or more, with potential increases based on skills and contribution to overall mill performance.

Shift is Night Shift, Monday to Friday, 5:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m., with overtime and weekend work as needed. The site location is 400 Ironaton Cutoff Road, Talladega, AL 35160.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience operating a forklift in a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial production environment.
• Experience with basic forklift maintenance and MOE system entry is a plus.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced plant setting and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Load incoming trucks and rail cars with correct product and weight for shipment.
• Verify orders for accuracy and ensure proper loading.
• Maintain a neat and organized work area for inventory control and housekeeping each shift.
• Perform basic forklift maintenance and use MOE to enter work orders for forklift needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Georgia-Pacific Talladega Lumber is now seeking a Forklift Operator for our Shipping Department.

Salary:

• Our starting pay is at $20.00/hour or more, based on experience.
• You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.

Shift:

Night Shift, Monday - Friday, 5:30 p.m. - 5:30 a.m.

• Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends based on Shipping needs.
• 10-hour shifts, rotates shift times every other week. Day Shift only.

What You Will Do

• Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.
• Load incoming trucks and rail cars with the proper product & weight for shipment. Check orders for accuracy and ensure product is loaded as required.
• Commitment to quality ensuring packed product meets packaging standards as well as verification of labels.

Ability to work well on a team and communicate amongst teammates, production, and/or supervisor when issues arise that need to be addressed.

• Ensure work area & Warehouse is neat and organized for inventory control purposes. Housekeeping must be maintained each shift.
• Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping on forklift. Use MOE system to enter work orders for forklift needs.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

A minimum of 6 months experience safely operating forklift within a Manufacturing, Distribution, or Industrial Production Environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

• One (1) year or more experience driving and operating a forklift within a Manufacturing, Distribution or Industrial Production Environment.
• Minimum of two (2) years' experience within a Manufacturing environment.
• Experience using a computer for record keeping and documentation purposes.
• Experience performing basic maintenance on forklifts to include using an MOE system to enter work orders for forklift repair needs.
