Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is hiring a Maintenance Technician for our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL. The role involves safe operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of industrial equipment to improve uptime and reliability.

You will install and repair mechanical drives, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and read blueprints. Shift flexibility, including weekends, is required; orientation is followed by regular shifts. Competitive hourly pay with a Friday–Sunday premium is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience performing installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Industrial Equipment.
• Experience in Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Mechanical systems and components.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Willing to work any shift including overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.
• Support operations efficiency through troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Perform periodic proactive asset strategies, such as maintenance routes, preventative maintenance, and other tasks to improve reliability and uptime.
• Install and repair mechanical drives, chains, sprockets, gearboxes, belts, and couplings.
• Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic systems, control devices, hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
• Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
• Use pipefitting skills to weld, cut, fit, and install piping throughout the facility.
• Assist operators or crew members with machine start-up, shutdown or clean up.
• Research parts in equipment manuals and submit work orders in a CMMS.
• Communicate daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentation.

Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is now hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our Lumber facility in Talladega, AL.

Salary

• Our starting pay is $27.00-33.00/hour depending on experience.
• $5.00/hour shift premium for any hours worked Friday - Sunday (overtime rules apply).
• You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.

Shift

• Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
• 12 hour shift. Weekends, Thursday - Saturday (every other Sunday), 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• The week of orientation will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and you will be assigned your regular shift after your orientation.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience performing installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Industrial Equipment.
• Experience in Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Mechanical systems and components.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Associate degree or higher in Industrial Technology or other related degree AND at least three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing environment OR five (5) years equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of precision alignment of motors, couplings, bearings, and lubrication systems and pumps.
• Mechanical maintenance experience, including fluid handling and conveyor systems, hydraulic systems and accumulators, and valve identification and application and welding.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS).
