Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Monitor I - HSH to help ensure the safety and security of the shelter premises and program clients. Driving ability is preferred. Position requires on-site work and strong attention to safety and client dignity.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, and at least 6 months experience working with homeless or vulnerable populations. California driver’s license and clean driving record are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 6 months experience working with homeless and/or vulnerable populations.
• Preferred: Current California driver’s license and clean driving record; knowledge of CA driving laws.

Responsibilities

• SHELTER ENTRANCE MONITORING and authorize entrance/exit of participants, staff, visitors and vendors.
• BAG & PERSON SCREENING of participants and belongings to ensure safety.
• Patrol premises to prevent intrusion and secure doors, windows, and gates.
• SHELTER SAFETY duties including reporting spills and unsafe conditions and assisting in emergencies.
• Client/participant support including answering phones, greeting visitors, and maintaining clean common areas.
