Job summary

Independence School District is seeking a Custodian to ensure a safe and clean learning environment across district facilities. You will perform daily classroom cleaning, restroom upkeep, dusting, trash removal, and light maintenance as directed.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and use of a backpack vacuum. Training covers safety procedures and district cleaning standards, with opportunities to contribute to a well-kept school community.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and push frequently. All duties require moderate to, at times, heavy physical exercise and exertion.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to use a "back pack" vacuum cleaner (weighing approximately 10 lbs)

Responsibilities

• Daily classroom cleaning duties as listed (empties wastebaskets, sanitizes, cleans surfaces).
• Weekly cleaning tasks and inspections of facilities.
• As needed maintenance such as dusting, waxing, and window cleaning.
• Corridor/Entrance/Lobbies cleaning duties including sweeping and sanitizing.
• Restroom/Locker Room cleaning duties including sanitizing fixtures and disposing waste.
