Job summary

Biewer Lumber in Mississippi seeks an equipment operator to efficiently run and monitor high-volume sawmill machinery, including Edger, Trimmer, Stacker, Strapper and Tilt Hoist, turning raw timber into finished dimensional lumber.

You will maintain material flow, perform basic machine adjustments, inspect lumber for dimensional quality, and uphold safety procedures on 8–12 hour shifts, with opportunities to advance to forklift and relief operator roles.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous general labor experience in a sawmill or lumber facility or manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude to operate industrial equipment is essential.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Edger, Trimmer, Stacker, Strapper, and Tilt Hoist to convert raw timber into finished lumber.
• Maintain a consistent production flow and meet production rates.
• Perform basic machine adjustments and assist maintenance with saw/knife changes.
• Monitor performance and report safety concerns or delays to the supervisor.
• Advance toward operator roles (forklifts/loaders) as experience grows.
• Adhere to safety procedures and wear required PPE.
