Job summary

This full-time Machine Operator position in a sawmill setting is responsible for operating and monitoring high-volume equipment to process raw timber into finished lumber. Night shifts run Monday to Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., with some weekend work possible.

You will maintain material flow, inspect lumber, perform basic machine adjustments, and assist maintenance teams with blade changes. You must follow safety procedures and report any issues promptly.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees.
• Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude to operate industrial equipment.
• Proven reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a sawmill or lumber manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor industrial, high-volume sawmill equipment to process lumber.
• Maintain a consistent flow of materials through machine centers.
• Inspections to ensure lumber meets dimensional specs and quality standards.
• Make basic machine adjustments and assist maintenance with blade changes.
• Report safety concerns, delays, or issues to Supervisor.
• Stack lumber for drying or processing, and secure packs for transport.
• Follow OSHA safety policies and perform lockout/tagout as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
