Job summary

UFP Industries in Maine seeks a Saw Operator I to set up and operate a single-blade saw. You will read scheduling sheets and identify required material for the operation, ensuring quality and safety in daily production.

The role requires at least 3 months of saw experience, basic math skills, and a willingness to work in a manufacturing environment. Hourly pay ranges from $19.00 to $21.00, with comprehensive benefits and potential discretionary bonuses.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment.
• Some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Ensures material meets quality specifications (grade, size, moisture).
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are met.
• Offloads and stacks material per established procedures; may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized; equipment safe to operate.
• Completes pre-shift startup equipment inspection checklist and reports issues.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Maintains production records as required.
• Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.
• Performs duties per safety and quality procedures; applies LOTO.
• Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
