Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Safety Technician for the Corrigan, TX plywood facility on the night shift. You will provide hands-on safety support, coach employees, and help identify risks while supporting health and safety training programs. This is a night shift-only position reporting to the Safety Manager.

You will work primarily on the floor coaching on HOP concepts, risk identification, and safety communications, and you may pursue mobile equipment and train-the-trainer certifications.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of Industrial manufacturing operations experience.
• Current first aid certification or willingness to obtain first aid and train-the-trainer certifications.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to create documents, maintain training records, use spreadsheet formulas, and coordinate safety communications.
• Experience identifying and assessing workplace hazards and contributing to incident investigations, root cause identification, and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and distributing current employee information, policy and procedure manuals and other communications relative to Health and Safety area.
• Be a resource for all department related safety needs.
• Own the administrative aspect of the site training programs and recordkeeping providing the facility with “hands-on” approach.
• Coordinate and facilitate the completion of all required Health and Safety training (new hire, temp, contractor/visitor).
• Coordinate risk assessment processes throughout the facility (PPE, moving equipment, pedestrian safety, etc.).
• Majority of the time will be spent on the floor having conversations and coaching employees on HOP concepts, risk identification, application of Path to Zero process, etc.
• Being able to be a resource for all supervisors for any safety needs.
• Be able to provide first aid care and help with any investigation.
• Willing to gain mobile equipment certification and train-the-trainer certification.
