Job summary

Methodist Richardson Medical Center in Richardson, TX seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care for adult and neonatal patients. Responsibilities include ABG, PFT, ventilator support, and airway maintenance under indirect supervision of the medical director.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited respiratory care program, licensed by the Texas Medical Board, NBRC registered, with BLS and ACLS; NRP/PALS to be obtained within a year; minimum six

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
Current Basic Life Support certification required
Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification required
NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support — must obtain within 1 year of hire
Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board
Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care
At least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance and bronchial hygiene.
Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside assessment, patient interview and medical record review.
Uses critical thinking to determine appropriate actions.
Interprets CXR, ABG and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
Assembles, checks, operates and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (ventilators, airways, analyzers).
Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
Performs cleaning and maintenance of cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
Utilizes patient scripting to improve satisfaction.
Performs other duties as required.
