The Lead RN/Charge Nurse coordinates patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager to promote excellence in practice and patient satisfaction. This role requires guiding staff, ensuring infection control, effective communication with families, and interprofessional collaboration to ensure safe admissions, transfers and discharges while maintaining efficiency and

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire)
• Certifications required based on the unit overseen (e.g., PALS, ACLS, NRP, ENPC, NCCC)
• National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)
• Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager
• Adjust staffing and assignments to acuity and resources
• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff; act as a unit leader in absence of the unit leader
• Ensure environmental safety and infection control; use appropriate supplies/equipment
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about plan of care
• Conduct rounds to monitor safety, quality, and patient experience
• Lead interprofessional collaboration to ensure care coordination and continuity
• Support mission and policies of Mercy Health
