The unit emphasizes mentorship, professional development and teamwork, with a 6-week orientation for new graduates and a multidisciplinary care approach to stroke patients.

Qualifications

• ASN or BSN from a nationally accredited program; RN license in Indiana.
• BLS certification required; additional life support certifications may be required by unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on the Medical Stroke Unit.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers and support staff.
• Educate patients and families; advocate for patient needs and comfort.
• Document care plans, progress notes and unit-specific processes.
