Job summary

Exeter Hospital, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, is seeking a per diem night shift RN in Exeter, NH. The role requires NH state or compact licensure, BCLS, and ACLS certification, with BSN strongly preferred.

The nurse will ensure safe medication administration, adhere to ANA standards, document thoroughly, and serve as a resource for policy and education. Responsibilities include mentoring new staff, clinical assessment, prioritization, care planning, and effective hand-offs.

Qualifications

• RN license – NH state or any other compact state.
• BCLS certified or within 30 days of hire; BSN strongly preferred.
• ACLS certified or within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital policies, ANA standards of practice, and nursing code of ethics.
• Ensures safe, timely and accurate medication and IV administration and transcription.
• Documentation is accurate, timely, concise, and legible and adheres to departmental policy.
• Integrates policies and/or national practice guidelines into patient care planning to achieve desired patient care outcomes.
• Precepts new employees – sets goals and assists the new employee in meeting those goals.
• Facilitates and encourages an environment for critical thinking.
• Makes 1-2 formal presentations to peers at least annually.
• Assists in meeting the learning and professional development needs of others.
• Performs a physical assessment and elicits comprehensive patient history on admission appropriate to the setting and patient's condition.
• Performs systematic, ongoing assessments as patient condition and unit standards warrant.
• Uses evidence-based assessment techniques and instruments in collecting pertinent data.
• Prioritizes established patient care problems and needs.
• Makes clinical decisions independently, collaboratively, manages one's own assignment.
• Manages own assignment while balancing efficiency and cost.
• Recognizes own limitations and seeks collaboration/assistance when needed.
• Modifies plans and re-prioritizes work quickly to handle the unexpected.
• Manages multiple demands in prioritizing patient care needs of an entire unit/dept.
• Communicates effectively during any patient hand-off.
• Identifies and anticipates patient care needs and initiates the plan of care to attain mutually agreed outcomes.
• Identifies patient priorities and discharge planning needs by utilizing assessment, 'best practice' standards, multidisciplinary team and patient input.
• Evaluates and modifies the effectiveness of the plan of care based on outcomes and patient feedback.
