Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department Behavioral Health Pods on the full-time night shift (7 pm–7:30 am). You will treat patients, educate families, and participate in psychiatric crisis intervention and therapeutic groups.

The role requires an active state RN license and a current BLS certification; knowledge of mental health laws and interdisciplinary care is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certificate required at hire and maintained.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process and behavioral health nursing duties.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients and educate patients about mental and medical conditions.
• Provide emotional support and run therapeutic groups; assist in psychiatric crisis intervention.
• Record medical histories, assist with diagnostics, operate medical equipment, and administer treatments and medications.
• Teach patients and families how to manage illness, diet, exercise, and self-administration of medications.
