Job summary

The Respiratory Care Practitioner/ERT at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane delivers skilled respiratory care and ER technician duties, focusing on cardiopulmonary needs. The role ensures therapy objectives are met, with training and support to develop advanced clinical skills including ventilator management, IV starts, splinting, and wound care.

FTE: 0.9, shift: Nights, schedule: 12-40, rotating weekends; MRI and various communications support the patient care environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Training program.
• Registered (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the State of Washington; registry eligibility to sit for RRT exam.
• ACLS/NRP/PALS/BLS certification required within 90 days of hire depending on population served.
• Minimum one year of acute care experience in respiratory therapy/critical care; CRT considered for internal candidates.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory care procedures in response to patient needs, physician orders, and departmental policies.
• Monitors respiratory care modalities for efficacy, safety and adverse effects.
• Detects and reports adverse events related to mechanical ventilation and respiratory care.
• Documents patient care data, interventions/therapies, and outcomes in the medical record.
• Assists RN or LIP in providing patient care within their scope of practice.
• Performs direct patient care activities under supervision and within policy.
• Performs point-of-care laboratory testing (POCT).
