Job summary

ACCESS, Inc. is seeking a Resident Services Specialist for the 11:00pm-7:00am shift to help ensure the safety and well-being of residents at the Emergency Shelter in Akron, OH. The role focuses on security, crisis management, and compassionate support within a 10-person team.

The successful candidate will supervise residents during shifts, coordinate with support staff, and maintain strict confidentiality while documenting all activities and policies adherence.

Qualifications

• Requires mature, responsible individual with social services experience.
• Must demonstrate crisis management, listening, and communication skills.
• Able to maintain professional and personal boundaries and resolve conflicts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security of residents and facility.
• Perform hourly building checks and document completion.
• Conduct house, dining, playroom, teen room, and hallway checks.
• De-escalate conflicts per agency protocol and monitor visitors.
• Follow emergency procedures and log shelter activities.
• Supervise residents during shifts and enforce rules from the handbook.
• Assist residents in accessing needed support services.
• Complete shift reports, logs, and required paperwork.
• Ensure confidentiality of resident files and property.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Third shift duties include cleaning, laundry, and breakfast setup.
