Job summary

Odyssey House in New York City is seeking a Resident Assistant to support security, supervise tenants and guests, and coordinate with staff to ensure safe, respectful housing. The role includes light administrative duties and janitorial tasks, with weekend and holiday coverage as needed.

The position offers part-time and full-time options, a midnight shift from 12am to 8am, and a pay range of $35,000–$38,000.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Computer literate.
• Ability to work well with a variety of people.
• Willingness to support staff efforts in serving the tenants.
• Ability to be non-judgmental and objective in working with sometimes difficult tenants.
• Prior security experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide light administrative/clerical and janitorial support to staff as needed.
• Organizing office and storage space.
• sweep, and mop internal and exterior areas.
• dust and polish furniture.
• clean lobby area windows.
• empty and clean trash containers.
• dispose of trash in a sanitary mannerCheck the identifications of visitors.
• Make daily log entries to assist program staff in continuity of services.
• Crisis Intervention
• Working in emergency situations.
