Job summary

Contour Hardening, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Quality Technician to perform metallurgical inspections and tests on in-process parts to verify compliance with customer specifications. The role may also cover contract processing tasks when workload demands.

The hours are Monday-Friday 11:00 PM–7:30 AM with potential overtime. Starting rate is $18/hour. Training on first shift, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, will last four weeks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in automotive industry preferred.
• Experience in quality department preferred.
• Experience in destructive quality testing highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor induction hardening machine quench concentration.
• Section parts and prepare samples for quality inspections using abrasive blaster, cutoff saw, grinders and polishers, and mounting press.
• Inspect and test parts at prescribed frequencies using magnetic particle inspection unit, hardness testers, microscopes, and various gauges to verify in-process production meets customer requirements.
• Accurately and promptly document the results of inspections and testing.
• Look for variations in inspection data and communicate observations to the appropriate personnel.
• Communicate with appropriate personnel regarding out-of-spec inspection results.
• Monitor general quality activities on the production floor (i.e. lot checklists are filled out, parts are being stacked properly on carts, parts on the carts are heat treated, Etc.)
