Job summary

Deschutes Brewery is seeking a QA Lab Technician to support brewing, packaging, and warehouse production. You will operate beer analysis equipment, conduct quality checks, and perform microbiology tasks in a fast-paced, GMP-driven environment.

Requirements include a four-year degree in Fermentation/Food Science or related experience, strong teamwork and communication, and the ability to manage time effectively. Competitive pay and opportunities for growth are offered.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Fermentation/Food Science or related disciplines OR at least 3 years of related manufacturing and/or lab experience OR a combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the position requirements.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills within diverse groups.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate lab equipment including beer analyzer, gas chromatograph, spectrometer, and package analyzer.
• Conduct quality checks on packaging lines and container integrity; collaborate with packaging operators on corrective actions.
• Perform beer analyses to measure alcohol content, IBUs, wort color, and other quality metrics.
• Carry out microbiology tasks such as media preparation, plating, and sterilization.
• Maintain sensory samples and report nonconformities; support production scheduling and line start-up checks.
