Job summary

SOUTHERN CHAMPION TRAY LLC is seeking a Production Leader to oversee a skilled manufacturing team in Chattanooga, TN. The role centers on safety, quality, throughput, and cost, with heavy floor presence and active participation in machine operation and continuous improvement.

You will coach operators, drive problem solving, and manage shift performance while partnering with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to uphold SCT's standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily Leader Standard Work to drive accountability and operational excellence
• Owns production team performance in safety, quality, throughput, cost, and people development
• Plan schedules, staffing, and production sequences to meet customer needs
• Lead from the floor with hands-on operation, make-readies, troubleshooting, and quality audits
• Spend ~80% on the floor, 50% in productive manufacturing activities such as operation, training, and improvement
• Drive safety culture with visible leadership, communication, and hazard elimination
• Provide training, coaching, and development to build technical and problem‑solving capabilities
• Enforce quality standards and compliance with SCT's Quality Program
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for safety, quality, and production issues
• Collaborate with CI, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to improve productivity and reliability
• Develop technical expertise in equipment, processes, and standardized work
• Promote 5S and Lean manufacturing across the team
• Maintain performance records and communicate results to leadership
• Develop Lead Operators and high-potential employees through coaching and succession planning
• Own shift management and ensure effective handoffs
• Communicate objectives and performance expectations; address concerns
• Manage attendance, timecards, staffing, and overtime
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management
• Adapt to new processes and continuous improvement initiatives
