Job summary

Byrne, Inc. is seeking a Processing Mechanic in Cortland, NY to lead maintenance tasks for processing equipment such as valves, UHT systems, tanks and pumps. You will troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires 2–3 years in the mechanical field, with experience in valve and pump repair, PLCs, and processing. Benefits start day 1, with additional 401(k) matching and education support, supporting long-term growth.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma is required.
• Technical training or an electrical/mechanical technician degree.
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience within the mechanical field.
• Minimum 1 year experience in the repair and rebuild of valves, pumps, and UHT components.
• Minimum 1 year experience in processing.
• Experience with programmable logic controllers, instruments, and controls.
• A background in food manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair valves and related equipment.
• Maintain records of emergency and PM repairs and ensure safety standards.
• Monitor valve parts inventory and manage replenishment.
• Train and support technicians in processing procedures.
• Coordinate with maintenance and plant leadership on schedules.
• Uphold safety, quality, and clean production areas.
• Assist in training in production areas like fillers and forklifts.
• Gain competence with online circuits and hookups in the facility.
• Cover breaks and staffing needs as assigned.
• Report safety concerns and support SQF compliance.
