Job summary

The Seattle Times, a Pulitzer Prize–winning newspaper, is seeking a self-starting Pressroom Associate (Pressroom General Worker). You will help maintain press efficiency by organizing and stacking freshly printed items, while following safety measures and supporting press operators across the print operation.

Typical shifts run in the evening (e.g., 4:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m.) with overtime as needed to meet production deadlines. Union membership and pre-employment drug testing are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse/industrial setting preferred.
• Basic written and spoken English communication.
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, frequently 50, and occasionally 100 pounds.
• Must be able to climb ladders and maneuver equipment safely.
• Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Takes daily direction from Press Lead Operator for instructions.
• Prepare press area by cleaning and organizing workspaces.
• Read and understand work orders for print jobs.
• Verify proper configuration and organization of printed items for delivery.
• Stack products with precise alignment on pallets for removal.
• Comply with safety requirements at all times.
• Notify Press Lead Operator immediately of equipment or process issues.
• Assist with minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as needed.
