Job summary

Saint Thomas Hospital for Specialty Surgery in Nashville is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Post Surgical Unit Nights PRN. The RN will implement Pre-Op and Post-Anesthesia care plans, follow physician orders, and ensure safety and comfort for patients while maintaining privacy at all times.

The role requires Tennessee RN license, BLS/ACLS, and ability to manage care from pediatric to geriatric patients. Competitive benefits and tuition reimbursement are offered along with shift differential

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
New grads welcomed.
Current Tennessee Nursing License.
Current CPR and ACLS.
Ability to adapt to change quickly, strong knowledge base relative to surgery procedures and management of the surgical patient.
Understands principles of aseptic technique and their implementation.
Ability to care for patients from one-year-old to geriatrics.
Excellent teaching skills.
Basic knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement ideology.

Responsibilities

Implement Pre-Op Nursing Assessment and Post Anesthesia Care record and nursing care plan.
Provide continuity and quality of nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient’s condition, safety, comfort and privacy.
Assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks, conscious sedation and sterile technique as needed.
