Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking a journeyman plumber for the night crew Maintenance team in Mesa, AZ. The role installs, repairs and maintains plumbing systems across the district while performing routine building maintenance tasks.

The position requires five years of journeyman plumbing experience with service repair exposure, a valid AZ driver's license, and ability to read blueprints. Working hours include 9/80 schedule and potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have journeyman-level plumbing experience including 5+ years and 2+ years of service repair work
• Valid Arizona driver’s license and safe driving record
• Knowledge of city, state and federal plumbing codes
• Ability to interpret plans, specifications and blueprints
• Computer proficiency to include Word, Excel, and email; ability to schedule and track work orders in maintenance software

Responsibilities

• Complete all types of plumbing work per work orders
• Install new plumbing systems as needed
• Process completed work orders on computerized system
• Perform minor electrical maintenance under journeyman direction (fixtures, switches, outlets)
• Perform minor painting maintenance including preparation, mixing, application and use of painting equipment
• Perform minor carpentry and masonry work (tiles, baseboard, shelving)
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems per SFB guidelines
• Maintain regular on-time attendance
• Support other duties to ensure efficient operation of the unit
• Direct the work of helpers and oversee outside contractors when required
• Assist with writing job scopes and specifications
