Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Colorado Springs is seeking a motivated Photo and Metrology Equipment Technician to join our D Shift night team.

This hands-on role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting photolithography and metrology equipment in a high-technology manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting, detail orientation, teamwork, and the ability to learn complex equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and basic corrective maintenance on photo and metrology equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using structured, data-driven approaches.
• Respond to alarms, interruptions, and production-impacting issues promptly.
• Investigate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, motion-control, optical, sensor, and software problems.
• Support equipment startups, shutdowns, qualifications, recoveries, and checks.
• Replace, clean, inspect, align, and adjust components as directed.
• Support photolithography, wafer inspection, measurement, and metrology systems.
• Assist with equipment checks related to alignment, focus, overlay, CD, film thickness, and defect inspection.
• Follow SOPs, schematics, drawings, and troubleshooting guides.
• Document equipment conditions, actions, parts replaced, and follow-up requirements.
• Verify equipment operation before returning tools to production.
• Communicate status and priorities during shift pass-downs.
• Escalate persistent or quality-impacting issues to engineers or leadership.
• Collaborate with equipment engineers, process engineers, and manufacturing teams.
• Participate in training, certifications, and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
• Adhere to safety, cleanroom, chemical, electrical, laser, and environmental procedures.
