Job summary

UNC Health Appalachian is seeking a Phlebotomist in Boone, NC for a part-time night shift (10:00pm–2:00am). The role involves bedside and outpatient blood collection from neonates to adults, with emphasis on safe technique and compassionate care.

Requirements include a high school diploma with phlebotomy training and BLS; 100 venipunctures and 50 capillary collections completed during training preferred. Compensation starts at $17.46 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with formal phlebotomy training or on-the-job training to qualify for certification.
• Minimum 100 venipunctures and 50 capillary collections completed during training; phlebotomist experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy program completion; certification preferred but not required; BLS required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect venous and/or capillary blood specimens at bedside and outpatient settings.
• Apply circulatory system knowledge and venipuncture technique for safe collections.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, physicians and leadership.
• Respond quickly and accurately to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
• Support outcomes for patient experience, quality, and safety.
