Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Main Campus night shift (7 on, 7 off, 8:00 pm–7:00 am) with weekend work required. Hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Standing/walking for long periods required, with competency across pharmacology tasks and IV admixtures.

Position involves unit-dose packaging, IV preparation, inventory management, and adherence to safety standards. Licenses and BLS required on hire; PTCB preferred.

Qualifications

• Education includes a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: 1 year in pharmacy or as a technician.
• Licenses & certifications: TSBP registered technician and BLS on hire.
• Preferred certification: PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Prep Technician.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily workflow and provide leadership to other technicians.
• Perform extemporaneous compounding and unit-dose packaging per policy.
• Enter charges/credits and restock returns; manage inventory.
• Prepare IV admixtures using aseptic technique and handle IV chemotherapy.
• Audit controlled substances and ensure safety/compliance.
• Deliver medications and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Assist with ordering and monitoring drug inventory within budget.
• Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
• Maintain a clean, stocked work area and adhere to policies.
• Shared duties may include direct patient interaction and records handling.
