Job summary

HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II for night shifts (8:00 PM CST – 6:30 AM CST) with a 7 on/7 off schedule. The role involves activating automated dispensing cabinets, maintaining inventory, and ensuring accurate compounding and labeling of medications.

A HS diploma, IV certification, and state registration are required; CPhT certification is preferred and must be pursued if not yet obtained. External candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• IV Certification required.
• CPhT national certification preferred; must be obtained within 6 months.
• Active Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing per state requirements.
• CPhT exam must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• State registration/licensing required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate relevant theoretical knowledge.
• Apply known solutions to predictable problems.
• Perform processes requiring well-developed skills with some discretion.
• Interpret available information using discretion and judgment.
• Maintain medication inventory, storage, and security per regulatory requirements.
• Accurately prepare and maintain required documentation logs and safety checks.
• Interact in person and by phone with hospital personnel.
• Perform basic billing functions.
• Accurately perform required calculations.
• Accurately and safely compound and label medications and parenteral admixtures.
• Package and prepare medications for dispensing as assigned.
• Transport medications and supplies to appropriate areas in a timely manner.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

IV Certification

National Certification (CPhT) preferred

Active Registered Pharmacy Technician

CPhT within 6 months of start
