Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Chemo-Certified RN for Pediatric Oncology at a teaching hospital. This role requires PALS, APHON, and ONS/ONCC chemo certification and hands-on chemo administration, port care, and BMT support.

The night shift is 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM on a 13-week assignment with bi-weekly orientation. Local candidates within 75 miles may be considered at a reduced rate; travel-ready nurses are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Active NC or Compact RN license in hand
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric oncology experience
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, Chemo (ONS/ONCC), and APHON
• Experience with chemotherapy administration, port access/management, and central line care
• Skilled in recognizing and managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, sepsis, hemorrhage)
• Experience with biotherapy, bone marrow transplant care, and symptom management
• Knowledge of neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
• 1 supervisory reference from within the last year
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Pediatric Oncology and BMT unit at a teaching hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 13-week assignment with bi-weekly orientation
• Required to work every other weekend
• Cares for pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients
• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric oncology and BMT patients including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Administer blood products, coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, and other specialized medications
• Manage pain control including IV push narcotics and PCA pumps
• Collaborate with the pediatric care team and provide patient/family education and psychosocial support
• Flu vaccine required October 31 - March 31 with no exemptions
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous permanent employment at this health system must be disclosed and must not have occurred within the past 6 months
• RTO must be limited to 5-7 days maximum
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius at a reduced rate
