Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking an experienced RN in Pediatrics for the Birth Center. The role focuses on labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn care, with cross-training to the Level II NICU and potential to assist in the Emergency Department when needed.

The position is full-time with night shifts (6pm–6:30am) and requires ACLS, NRP, BLS, and Mandatory Reporter certifications within the first year. Competitive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN is preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license (Illinois license if working in IL) required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
• High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Identifies patient problems and develops an outcome-based plan of care.
• Implements the plan of care and coordinates with the team.
• Delivers age-appropriate care for mothers, newborns, and pediatrics.
• Communicates with physicians and care team to ensure quality outcomes.
• Reassesses and updates the care plan as conditions change.
• Documents discharge instructions for mother, infant, and caregiver.
• Maintains safety and infection control standards.
