Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift, 7:00pm–7:00am, in a 28-bed PCU within a hospital setting. The role requires 2+ years of PCU experience, NIHSS certification, and an active North Carolina (or compact) RN license. BLS and CPI-A are required; BSN/MSN preferred; ACLS preferred.

The position includes on-call, weekend shifts, and holiday coverage as needed. CNA/tech support and performance improvement activities are available as part of patient care delivery.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact license.
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit experience required.
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required.
• BSN or MSN preferred.
• CPI-A certification required.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• 24- to 28-bed PCU unit within a hospital setting.
• Adult cardiac/med-surg patient mix including CAD, CHF, NSTEMI cases.
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 with 3-4 admissions per day.
• Night shift schedule, 7:00pm-7:00am, 3 days per week (36 hours/week).
• On-call required for 1 shift per pay period.
• Weekend requirement of 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule.
• Holiday coverage required as needed.
• Performs bedside point of care testing as part of patient care.
• Delivers clinical nursing care using the nursing process in a fast-paced PCU environment.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Participates in discharge planning and identifies patients at high risk for complex discharge needs.
• Engages in performance improvement activities and unit goal development.
