Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support bedside care in a fast-paced hospital setting. The PCA will assist with daily activities, help with meals and mobility, and provide comfort while maintaining safety and infection control standards.

The role requires vital signs collection, reporting changes to the RN, and close collaboration with the care team to deliver a high-quality patient experience. Training and certification requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Knowledge of patient care procedures and standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Familiarity with infection control principles.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and maintain concentration.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meals, drinks, and meal ordering; help patients with walking and mobility.
• Assist with baths, grooming, and changing linens and gowns.
• Provide bedside care and safety, using gait belts and alarms as needed.
• Monitor patient condition and report changes to RN promptly.
• Maintain patient environment and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
