Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH seeks a Night Shift Patient Care Assistant to provide basic supportive care to pediatric patients under the direction of an RN or Care Manager. You will collect and document data and report findings to the supervising nurse.

Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, assisting with procedures, maintaining patient safety, keeping units stocked and clean, and handling related clerical tasks. A valid Ohio CNA and CPR certification are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience.
• One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years.
• Active CNA certification in Ohio or equivalent education/experience.
• Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider).

Responsibilities

• Collects, documents, and reports vital signs; may perform minor specimen testing.
• Promotes patient safety; assists with procedures; prepares materials as delegated.
• Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information.
• Ensures environmental standards are met; unit areas stocked, cleaned, and maintained.
• Performs clerical and administrative tasks as necessary.
• Completes continuing education and may act as a preceptor/trainer.
