Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct care to patients, including those with complex behavioral and mental health needs, under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This is a full-time nights position with responsibilities across observation, data collection, and care plan participation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with an Associate's Degree preferred. CPI and CPR certifications are listed as required licenses.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate skill and judgement necessary to provide safe and effective care to patients including those with complex behavioral and/or mental health needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, documents appropriate data, and reports changes in patient status to the healthcare team.
• Uses effective communication skills to collaborate with members of the health care team to provide a safe environment to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Provides continual observation, ongoing documentation, and participates in the development of the plan of care for patients with complex behavioral and/or mental health needs.
