Baystate Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join the Medical/Surgical team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The role supports nurses and providers, providing safe, compassionate care and monitoring patients through 12-hour night shifts.

Qualifications

• Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and documents vital signs and changes in condition.
• Performs approved treatments, including dressing changes, specimen collection, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.
• Assists nurses and providers with examinations and treatments while monitoring patient needs.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families and health care teams.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Monitoring: provides safe, age-appropriate care and documents vitals.
• Clinical Procedures & Testing: performs dressing changes, specimen collection, EKGs and POC testing.
• Treatment & Provider Support: assists with examinations and treatments; monitors patient changes.
• Communication & Teamwork: communicates respectfully with patients and teams.
• Patient Safety & Emergency Response: maintains safety and initial emergency procedures.
