Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certificate showing completion of Patient Care Technician training with competency orientation and BLS; training must include phlebotomy and 12-lead ECG.
• Graduate of a state-approved nursing assistant program or 2 years of direct care experience; EMS/medical corpsman background preferred for ED roles.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• BLS training required.

Responsibilities

• Take and record patient height, weight, health history and vital signs (BP, venipuncture, EKGs).
• Sterilize instruments and maintain a safe, clean environment.
• Prepare examination rooms and restock supplies.
• Schedule appointments and handle basic clerical tasks related to medical records and testing.
• Perform routine tests (urinalysis, blood glucose, hematocrit) as needed.
• Provide patient education and support for wellness and satisfaction.
• Assess patient conditions and determine if emergency action is needed.
• Obtain authorizations and schedule diagnostic studies.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Patient Care Technician training with competency orientation and Basic Life Support (BLS); training must include phlebotomy and 12-lead ECG

Nursing Assistant certificate or 2 years direct care experience; EMS/medical corpsman background preferred

English reading/writing/speaking ability
