Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support RNs in delivering patient care on a full-time basis. The role includes vital signs, EKGs, procedures, and discharge preparation in a night-shift setting with rotating weekends.

Ideal candidates will have CNA training or nursing clinical rotation experience, plus current BLS certification and at least one year of customer service or nursing assistant experience.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the U.S., and completion of an accredited certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) training course preferred, or completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical preferred
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider required
• 1 year of customer service preferred and/or prior nursing assistant experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of a RN to deliver patient care
• Assist with Vital Signs (includes manual blood pressure), 12-Lead EKG, Bladder Ultrasound, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, sterile specimen collection, bathing, beds, ambulating, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose, feeding, admitting patients to room, preparing patients for discharge and any other duties delegated by the Registered Nurse
• Assist with the implementation of a patient specific care plan
• Participate in other activities which are essential to the functioning of the patient care unit
• Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience
