Job summary

University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Central Pool (PRN nights). You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, take vitals, assist with ADLs, perform blood draws, and communicate patient needs to the care team.

Must have Maryland CNA or GNA certification, high school diploma, and current BLS. Prior direct patient care is welcome but not required; teamwork and safety are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Previous health care experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and assist with activities of daily living.
• Perform blood draws and collect specimen samples.
• Document care, monitor patient status and communicate changes.
• Assist in admission, transfer and discharge processes.
• Promote safety and proper infection control in the patient care area.
• Participate in hourly rounds and respond to alarms as needed.
